How has technology changed your job?

As I started my career with IT  it has not changed anything as such. Since then I have varied experiences in other field. It has  enhanced my work, with faster  communication and wider reach.  I can say that  it has not affected me adversely.

Balance has to be there to take advantage of the Tech. in the todays world.

I had an experience today which I would like to share here.  The way we communicate has slowly and steadly changed, atleast in last decade.  It is more on messaging apps and mails then on personal level.  Earlier we could judge by the tone of the person on the othet side of phone, how the things are or what type of person we are dealing with. But with the messaging become the standard norm, it may be difficult  now.  Especially when you are going to  connect with a person first time

Today I realized that slowly our mind may have adopted to this shift.  I got a WhatsApp message from someone a couple of days  back wanting to  talk. I agreed.  Today  again got message. While reading it , I got an impression of being ordered. It was more of what was missing rather than  what was there.  I decided not to  go further.  Then someone else messaged from the same place  wanting the same info.   I  fixed up the time for the meeting, despite thinking of saying no earlier.

What  changed my mind ? The formation of the message.  One was bland and the othet was warm and respectful.   Without our knowledge,  our thought process changed how we decide things.

Moral of the story : Be mindful while communicating  through messaging,  especially for the first time.  Remember  “First impression is the last impression ”   Most of the time.

Who was your most influential teacher? Why?

All the teachers play a big role in our developing years. There have been many  who influenced  me. But one I remember  still is my hindi teacher in grade 8 in school.  Her name was Mrs. Sethi.  She was an excellent person and I respect her. But the reason I remember  her is that she changed my name.  My nickname was Dolly and that was  registered in school also.    While sending the names to high school (9th grade)  she changed  it to Namrata.  She did not ask my mom or me, those were the days  of  good old friendship types.

Afterwards she told  us that Dolly is a very casual kind of name and doesn’t look good on the  formal documents.  She was  right I think.  This reminds me of  the times when  family and friends were genuinely concerned  for you.

TODAY- you misspell your own child’s name and imagine…….. Changing name shouldn’ even cross your mind

Where is “There?”

Very well expressed the sentiment of  like minded people like me.

Are we there yet? Where is “there?” Do we know where our “there” is? When we were little we heard people tell our parents, “What a little man!” “What a pretty girl.” Nice strangers asked us, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”  Perhaps on a subconscious level we start at an […]

Contemplating……Relationships

” As  the global  environment is getting warmer

The relationships are getting colder”.

….courtesy  Mr Sunil Sharma (Bindu )

Today in conversation with someone whom I look up for guidance, told me this. And I was like in two lines he   conveyed the sad reality of  where  relationships are heading to. People take pride in posting  the  number of followers/subscribes,  as an achievement.    How many  hold their hands in person , when needed?

Wonder what happened to  old-fashioned  ways of  being there  in-person to   share the joys  or  support someone in grief.

It is not that  everyone is the  same , but it is the general trend I am pointing to.

Are you superstitious?

Sometimes yes. But not usually.

I do believe in  cleansing,  as sometimes misplaced energies do effect us negatively. If something is reoccurring,  which I am not comfortable with, then I do reflect on .
