How has technology changed your job?

As I started my career with IT  it has not changed anything as such. Since then I have varied experiences in other field. It has  enhanced my work, with faster  communication and wider reach.  I can say that  it has not affected me adversely.

Balance has to be there to take advantage of the Tech. in the todays world.

I had an experience today which I would like to share here.  The way we communicate has slowly and steadly changed, atleast in last decade.  It is more on messaging apps and mails then on personal level.  Earlier we could judge by the tone of the person on the othet side of phone, how the things are or what type of person we are dealing with. But with the messaging become the standard norm, it may be difficult  now.  Especially when you are going to  connect with a person first time

Today I realized that slowly our mind may have adopted to this shift.  I got a WhatsApp message from someone a couple of days  back wanting to  talk. I agreed.  Today  again got message. While reading it , I got an impression of being ordered. It was more of what was missing rather than  what was there.  I decided not to  go further.  Then someone else messaged from the same place  wanting the same info.   I  fixed up the time for the meeting, despite thinking of saying no earlier.

What  changed my mind ? The formation of the message.  One was bland and the othet was warm and respectful.   Without our knowledge,  our thought process changed how we decide things.

Moral of the story : Be mindful while communicating  through messaging,  especially for the first time.  Remember  “First impression is the last impression ”   Most of the time.
